AmeriCorps Leadership Summit Round Up

This summer California Volunteers hosted our 2018-2019 AmeriCorps programs at the 2018 AmeriCorps Leadership Summit. With innovative and exciting discussions on program management, California’s service initiatives, and strategies to engage funders and supporters, our programs came together to network and collaborate with their service colleagues. Our annual Bootcamp session for new programs and new staff had record attendance and provided attendees with essential tools and skills to effectively operate an AmeriCorps program. Conference participants were able to participate in hands-on workshops that gave program staff the opportunity to troubleshoot current challenges for AmeriCorps members and programs and find solution-based innovations. We would like to thank our conference presenters for taking the time to connect with our grantees and making this a successful gathering: Chester Spellman (Director of AmeriCorps, CNCS), California Volunteers Commissioners Kathy McKim (Chair of the CV Commission) and Wendy Garen (Vice Chair, CV Commission), Chuck Supple (Director of the Department of Juvenile Justice, CDCR), Kaira Esgate (CEO, America’s Service Commissions), Steve Patty (Principal Consultant, Dialogues in Action), Sarah Krasin (Vice President, CCS Fundraising), Laura Zachar (Executive Director, Reading Partners L.A.), Andrea Weiss (Career Counselor, Andrea Weiss Career Counseling), and Troy Nichols (Consultant, Strategies 2.0).
