Enjoy nature at your local parks and trails.
California’s parks and public lands provide a fun, affordable and healthy way to connect with family, friends, community and the outdoors. Spending just two hours outdoors can improve your health and well-being. By connecting with nature, we gain a sense of stewardship and a desire to seek everyday actions to protect the environment.

Partner Spotlights
Each of us has the power to combat climate change in our own lives. Actions like conserving energy, composting food waste and capturing data about local nature make a real difference in our own communities and far beyond. That’s why our Natural Resources Agency is proud to partner with the Climate Action Counts campaign to help Californians take these climate actions. Working together— person-by-person and community-by-community, we are building a positive future for generations to come.”

Home to over 25,000 employees, our Agency protects, manages and restores the state’s environment and its vast natural, cultural and historical resources. We advance this work with science as our foundation and inclusion and collaboration as our guiding principles.
California’s state parks are living classrooms and vital sanctuaries for the plants and animals that make our state one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. The incredible diversity of California’s State Park System – from vast deserts, mountains, historic sites, lakes, rivers, beaches and everything in between – is unmatched. I invite all Californians to discover the nature in their state parks and be part of the effort to protect our natural resources for generations to come.”
