BAYAC AmeriCorps celebrated Mayors Day with Richmond’s Mayor Tom Butt. Mayor Butt took a moment to recognize leaders of volunteerism and service in his city. One of the recipients of his certificate of recognition was Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) and BAYAC AmeriCorps. - Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership Program (SNAP)
I just wanted to share with you one of our recent successes! We have seven SNAP members from the 2014-15 year that have been hired on at their organizations for after their service term ends. Three were formerly AmeriCorps positions that were fully funded through efforts of the organizations development staff and converted to full time positions and four were hired for other positions that became available at their organizations. Another two members are currently in their second round of interviews at their host sites for other positions and are planning on staying in the area. Three more current members are staying on for a second term of SNAP service. That’s 12 individuals who are staying in the Sierra region and staying in the environmental field who would not be here without the SNAP Program and AmeriCorps!
