- BAYAC AmeriCorps
BAYAC AmeriCorps celebrated Mayors Day with Richmond’s Mayor Tom Butt. Mayor Butt took a moment to recognize leaders of volunteerism and service in his city. One of the recipients of his certificate of recognition was Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) and BAYAC AmeriCorps. Below is a link to a picture of Mayor Tom Butt with BACR’s CEO, Marty Weinstein, BAYAC AmeriCorps Member Amelia Dotzenrod, and a VISTA Member.

- Reading Partners
I just wanted to share a program highlight that took place yesterday afternoon, Thursday March 12th. We had Congresswoman Barbara Lee visit our reading center at Think College Now Elementary School in Oakland. I have attached a few pictures.
We are in the process of compiling information about all the wonderful AC Week national day of service events that went on in California, which will be featured in the April edition of our Reading Partners AmeriCorps newsletter. You should receive this at the start of next month.Reading Partners’ Annual Report

What Works Clearinghouse (WWC)
WWC is a federally supported, central, and trusted source of scientific evidence for what works in education to improve student outcomes. It reviews and provides educators, policymakers, researchers, donors and program developers with information about interventions that create significant impacts for students. Being included enhances our reputation as a leader in proven literacy programs. You can learn more by viewing the Reading Partners feature.
- Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership Program (SNAP)
I just wanted to share with you one of our recent successes! We have seven SNAP members from the 2014-15 year that have been hired on at their organizations for after their service term ends. Three were formerly AmeriCorps positions that were fully funded through efforts of the organizations development staff and converted to full time positions and four were hired for other positions that became available at their organizations. Another two members are currently in their second round of interviews at their host sites for other positions and are planning on staying in the area. Three more current members are staying on for a second term of SNAP service. That’s 12 individuals who are staying in the Sierra region and staying in the environmental field who would not be here without the SNAP Program and AmeriCorps!
