Eligible Applicants
Nonprofit organizations and state and local government agencies are eligible to apply. All applicants must have active registration with the System for Award Management (SAM) at https://www.sam.gov/SAM/.
Funding Priorities
California Volunteers is seeking to fund at least one eligible legal applicant to expand programming in the following focus area:
Homelessness/Unhoused community support: Increasing resource access and case management support for the homeless population, including supporting transition into affordable and permanent housing. Program activities may include case management, resource navigation, street outreach, or other direct service supports.
California Volunteers is focusing this funding opportunity to address the homelessness crisis currently impacting the state: According to the 2023 Annual Homeless Assessment Report released by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, California’s homeless population accounts for 28% of the nation’s total and half of the nation’s unsheltered people are located in California. California also accounts for nearly half of all unsheltered unaccompanied youth, an especially vulnerable population.
California Volunteers is seeking to fund up to two collaborative partners with the capacity and institutional knowledge to develop and establish the California Opportunity Corps. Selected entities will be instrumental in developing the infrastructure of the program, including, but not limited to, the program design, the priorities of the member’s experience, selection of service site locations or community host organizations, a clearly defined set of metrics tailored to the needs of each community of focus, and recommendations on how to build a sustainable program that will effectively implement the core components of the Opportunity Corps program.
