State Hosts Holiday Community Celebration Featuring the California State Capitol Tree
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Governor’s Office of Community Service and Engagement (GO-Serve) Director Josh Fryday and Department of Developmental Services Director Pete Cervinka will join California Service Corps members at a holiday food drive during the lighting of the State of California State Capitol Tree on December 10, 2025. The holiday food drive will benefit the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services.
A 60’ high tree provided by Cal Fire will be on display near the west steps of the State Capitol. In keeping with an important tradition since 1983, the tree will be decorated with colorful ornaments created by Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As part of the celebration, 21 trees representing each of the State’s DDS regional centers also will be on display.
