California Volunteers’ California Climate Action Corps Fellowship program leverages the power of AmeriCorps to advance climate actions that engage community members, cultivate change, and leave a lasting impact.

About the Fellowship Program
California Climate Action Corps (CCAC) Fellows are AmeriCorps Members who serve full-time (for either a two-month summer term or 11-month term) while gaining valuable experience, mentorship, and training. For more information about AmeriCorps, visit www.americorps.gov.
Selected Fellows will be placed with Host Partner Organizations where they will:
- Learn real-world climate action skills through organizing community action projects.
- Serve with a government, Tribe, nonprofit, or college or university committed to taking action on climate change and supporting implementation of service projects.
- Be part of a community and statewide force of emerging leaders.
Fellows receive a monthly living stipend as well as an education award(s) upon completion of the full term of service, which can be used to repay qualified student loans or pay current educational expenses at eligible institutions of higher education and training programs. Stipend and education award amounts vary by the length of service.
California Volunteers has partnered with Local Government Commission (LGC) and Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) to implement the CCAC program. As implementing partners, LGC and BACR manage the recruitment and placement process, support Fellows and Host Partner Site Supervisors, and coordinate professional development activities for Fellows.
For me, service means building a foundation for the future by making meaningful long-lasting impacts starting in disadvantaged communities… Now is the time to work towards a sustainable way of living to change our unhealthy environments. I am proud to be a California Climate Action Crops fellow because it gave me a chance to make a difference in the world.
Pilot Term
In January 2021, the pilot cohort of 63 Fellows began a 7.5-month term of service placed with 26 Host Partners in five target cities (Fresno, Stockton, San Jose, Redlands, and Los Angeles). Fellows focus on engaging the community in urban greening, edible food recovery, and wildfire prevention home hardening.

Summer Term
In June 2021, a two-month summer program will deploy more than 200 emerging youth leaders to serve as Fellows with dozens of Host Partners in rural and urban communities throughout the state. Fellows may focus on a range of climate issues (e.g., energy, water, waste, etc.) and will participate in specific climate action (e.g., tree planting) and/or climate education (e.g., energy awareness education) projects.

Fall Term
In September 2021, an 11-month program will build upon the pilot term by placing 50 Fellows with Host Partners in five target cities (Fresno, Stockton, San Jose, Redlands, and Los Angeles). Fellows will focus on engaging the community in urban greening, edible food recovery, and wildfire prevention through home hardening.
