Alfredo Campos, FIRE (Fire, Innovation, Recruitment and Education) Foundry

Building Skills Towards a Pathway to Fire Service

An East Bay native, Alfredo Campos graduated with his AA degree in business management and joined Marin County’s FIRE (Fire, Innovation, Recruitment and Education) Foundry as a Youth Jobs Corps member in January 2023. FIRE Foundry uses fire science technology to provide job training and skills development for communities in Marin County. As an entry recruit, Alfredo built his skills through his work in fire fuel reduction while attending classes at the College of Marin.

Proud to represent the Latino community in fire service, Alfredo is grateful for the opportunities Youth Jobs Corps provided through his role as an entry recruit.

“Youth Jobs Corps inspired me to chase after a career in fire service and gave me the opportunity to gain a better understanding of what my next steps are in order to achieve my goal to become a full-time firefighter,” said Campos.

Due to the support from his mentor fire fighter, his newfound confidence, and hard work, Alfredo took the next step in his career and is currently a prescribed fire apprentice with Audubon Canyon Ranch. In this new role, Alfredo continues to gain experience that supports his career goals while making a difference and inspiring his community.
